Wilma Podolak, 99, of Schuyler, died Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Brookstone (David Place) in David City.


 

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, April 10, 2025     10:30 A.M.

Divine Mercy Parish  St. Mary's Catholic Church, Schuyler

Visitation Wednesday 5-7 with 7 P.M. Rosary at the funeral chapel

Visitation Thursday 8:30-10:00 A.M. at the chapel

Committal in the Schuyler Cemetery

Dinner in St. Mary's Social Center following the committal

Wilma was born August 20, 1925, near Ulysses, Nebraska to Louis and Helen (Hellman) Krenk.  She graduated from Dwight Assumption High School.  For one year she worked as a teletype operator at Patterson Air Field in Springfield Ohio.  On January 7,1946, she married William J.Podolak at Dwight Assumption Catholic Church.  They farmed in Butler County and moved to Schuyler in 1958.  Wilma was a "stay at home" mom and loved cooking, baking, sewing and canning.  She took a 3 day course in upholstery and did that for 25 years. She loved to play the accordion and entertained at the Sr. Center, Heritage Manor and the Extended Care Unit at Schuyler Memorial Hospital.  She was a member of the church, Little Flower Altar Society, Rosary Crusade, St. Anne's Study Club, and Charter Member of the Schuyler  Garden Club.  Her greatest love was spending time with her family.

Wilma is survived by her children: Larry (Carolyn) Podolak, Carol (Jerel) Engel, Theresa (Hugh) Robertson, Patty (Mark) Bosh, Becky (Dan) Baumert, sister, Marci Sabatka, grandchildren: Chad (Carmen) Podolak, Michelle (Chad) Oakley, Matt (Christina) Podolak, Jackie (Larry) Volz, Joey Engel, Jen (Dean) Thege, Mac Robertson, Kati (Jon) Cramer, Gabe (Kelly) Robertson, Brad (Stephanie) Bosh, Brian (April) Bosh, Jon (Katie) Bosh, Megan (Bryan) Koliha, Adam (Amy) Baumert, 43 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Sharon, great grandchildren: Sarah Volz, Eli Bosh, Baby Hayworth, siblings: Alois, Adrian, Richard, and Ray Krenk.
